Thought For Tuesday


HIGHER GROUND A Thought For Tuesday Bobby Simpson August 31, 2010 *Copyright Higher Ground 2010* On Sunday morning, my wife and I took Cullen, our 18-month-old grandson, on a 40-minute ride in his little push car. We saw 5 kitty cats, a big dog, 5 birds on a wire, 2 jeeps, and lots of little water puddles. Just like he did on our Friday evening arrival, every time he saw these items, his little eyes sparkled, he pointed his finger, and his mouth often flew open to exclaim an excited OHH! The lesson! oh how BIG the little things can be as you go from place to place in life. Realize that softball defense is just moving a ball from place to place in a certain amount of time. Realize teachers need freedom to actually teach and move a student from a confused huh? to an excited oh! in a certain amount of time. If you can't apply this in your own world, then you need to stop and share a child's world for a while. Thanks, Cullen, for the reminder and ask your mama and daddy to mail my heart back it's in your front yard where you hugged me goodbye. CCGSA Mission Statement

Clackamas County Girls Softball Association is a nonprofit organization made up of softball associations that either reside in or around Clackamas County and have the desire to play softball in a Clackamas County League. We work with ASA (Amateur Softball Assoc.) to follow their rules and guidelines for our teams

CCGSA strives to provide a positive atmosphere in which a girl at any age and skill level can participate and find out how much fun softball can be while at the same time gain the benefits from learning the rules of the game and how to work together as a team. This in turn leads our young ladies to establish healthy goals, a sense of accomplishment and build their self esteem.

CCGSA recognizes the youth sport experience is different for everyone, but our primary goal is and always has been for the benefit of the children. We also recognize that today's softball players will be tomorrow's leaders.

CCGSA also desires to educate coaches in proper playing techniques, sportsmanship, rules of play and game etiquette. This is accomplished in partnership with American Softball Association ACE's Clinics. In working hard to give our girls a safe environment in which to have fun part of our ACE's clinic includes background checks.

CCGSA's purpose is to keep the girls coming back by making their youth experience as fun, enjoyable and memorable as possible and we work hard to give all. As they get older and the rules change we prepare them for the competitiveness of High School Ball.

Everyone involved in CCGSA from the board members, to the area heads of different associations to the coaches are volunteers. Their goal is one thing: To make our girls childhood fun, safe and memorable. Please remember and respect all the time that is donated for the good of the girls.
